The Initial Examination

What should I expect?

Initial consultation

Please allow 45-60 minutes

A thorough, confidential case history is taken, to give us an accurate picture of your present and past situation, and to screen for any relevant safety issues.

A physical exam is then performed, to more specifically evaluate your spine and nerve system.

We will scan your feet to determine whether orthotic footbeds might help to stabililse your spine.

At this time it will be determined whether a set of x-rays is required, depending on the information gathered.

Report visit, 2nd visit.

Please allow approximately 30 minutes

We will explain the results of both physical exam and x-rays if needed, and continue your chiropractic education. You will now receive your first chiropractic spinal adjustments. We will work out a plan of care specifically for you, and book your regular chiropractic appointments.

Regular visits

We understand that your time is valuable. We will endeavour to see you on time. If you have a new problem, or something that you wish to discuss with your chiropractor, please let us know in advance, so that we can schedule your visit when we can allow more time. We try and reserve busy times for regular maintenance/wellness visits.

Progress exam

Please allow 30 minutes

This is scheduled after about 12 visits. The progress exam allows us to objectively record improvements, and to decide on the next phase of your care plan. We will ask you to fill out a form to let us know how you feel. We will reassess all of the tests that were positive during your initial exam.

Re-exams

If it has been more than 12 months since your last appointment, we will need to update your records and perform a re-exam before continuing your care. This is a safety procedure.
